  • Eric Copeland will release a new album through DFA Records on September 22nd. Goofballs was recorded in Palma, Spain, where the formerly New York-based artist now lives. The label describes the album—his second of the year following Courtesy, Professionalism, Respect, which came out on L.I.E.S.—as having "playful melodies, earworm hooks and vocals mixed with trademark machine funk rhythms." It was made, says Copeland, using a "very minimal gear setup: '90s drum machine, cheap bass machine and a sampler. But most important was a homemade 'drum brain' that [Barry London] custom made for me... That piece of gear was a big part of this record and informed the direction it took the most." Copeland is a founding member of the experimental rock and electronic act Black Dice, whose last record, released last year, was a 12-inch for L.I.E.S. called Big Deal. Listen to album track "Neckbone."
